3 days to be operational

Our team comes on-site. You provide access to the server room and to your SSO. We handle the rest.

Timeline

Day by day, what happens on-site

J1
≈ 4 h

Day 1 — Delivery and connection

  • Unbox, verify firmware SHA256 and GPG signature
  • Rack: standard outlet for Mac Studio, 19" rack for Linux variant
  • Network setup: dedicated VLAN, static IP, firewall rules (no internet egress by default)
  • Initial boot, first admin login with 24h temporary credentials
  • Run `gbox init`: auto-generate secrets, init Postgres, pull baseline models, healthcheck. ≈ 5 min.
J2
≈ 6 h

Day 2 — Connection to your infrastructure

  • SSO hookup (Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace) via OIDC/SAML
  • Activate connectors: SharePoint, Drive, Confluence based on your sources
  • Configure RBAC per group + verify source-permission propagation
  • Kick off initial indexing: 1–2 days depending on volume
J3
≈ 4 h

Day 3 — Training and go-live

  • User training (45 min): UI walk-through, best practices, business examples
  • Production rollout: progressive (pilot → team → company)
  • Hand-off the admin dashboard to your IT team: health, usage, costs, searchable audit logs
  • Final check via `gbox doctor`: 8 sections of checks (services, models, backups, resources). Everything must be ✓.
  • Wrap-up: runbook, 24/7 hotline, signed-update schedule

Technical FAQ

Questions we get most often

+ How much does it draw?
Between 65 W (S, like an LED bulb) and 350 W max (L under load). At idle the M draws ~80 W. Passive cooling on S, controlled fans on M and L.
+ Is it noisy?
The S is silent (passive cooling, 22 dB ambient). The M reaches ~32 dB under sustained load, like a regular Mac Studio. The L peaks at 40 dB during stress tests.
+ What size and weight?
Apple Silicon is very compact: Mac Mini (S) 1.4 kg / 5 × 19.7 × 19.7 cm, Mac Studio (M and L) 3.6 kg. Linux x86 (L) variant is standard 1U 19" rackable.
+ Is there internal redundancy?
RAID-1 storage on M and L. Encrypted Restic backups to a local NAS you provide (Synology recommended). For high-availability, deploy a second box in active-passive failover.
+ How reliable is the hardware (MTBF)?
Apple Silicon Mac Studio: ~10 years 24/7 per vendor stats. Linux variant: vendor-specified, typically 5–7 years. 3-year hardware warranty included, 5-year extension optional.
+ What does the warranty cover?
3 years of next-business-day hardware replacement included. If the box fails, we ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Data restored from the latest Restic backup.
+ If the box dies, how fast to recover?
With a second box in failover: RTO < 5 min, RPO ≈ 5 min. Without failover: NBD for hardware swap + 1–4 h to restore the latest backup, so RTO 24–28 h worst case.
+ How are air-gap boxes updated?
Quarterly we ship a GPG-signed USB stick. Your admin plugs it in, verifies the signature and runs the update script. No outbound connection needed. Compatible with PSSIE and defence requirements.
